WORK SMARTER, NOT HARDER​...

With our humble desire almost two decades ago to unlock the block most seniors have when it comes to socializing, our long since proven concept was more accidental then intentional as was our timing to an arena referred to as the “baby boomer” who according to the US Dept. of Aging state 10,000 turn 65 daily. That's a pretty substantial target market and probably why we see an overabundance of advertisement offering a wide range of products specific to seniors. 


What we don't see however is what is a mandatory requirement in all senior communities regardless of level and that is advertisements in entertainment specific to the senior industry. 


Having been an Activity Director myself prior to the birth of the Derby (and the reason it was created) was how much seniors thrived on the thrill of a win. Quite noticeable were the numbers in attendance when it came to BINGO however with social interaction being of primary concern, to me playing in silence offered very little in excitement other than at the end when someone yelled BINGO. And when the game was over, most departed going their separate ways just as the game was played, in silence.   


Missing was what seniors wanted most of all. More intense, edge of your seat, thrill of the win excitement only found in a game of chance. Though appearing as an "average" horse race, it's anything but. What sets us apart is patented and found between the START and the FINISH that's made us the leader in the industry and now, almost 20 years later on a National level and in ten cities. The intensity and excitement generated by actually "seeing" where their horse is at all times, who's next to them, behind them and/or who just got stuck in the trap! And no better fun is it making them think they're not going to get stuck only to tell them they just did. Through laughter and intense excitement, even when losing, a new friend is made which was at first the sole purpose, for to this day I still know nothing about horses or horse racing. But they do!  


They need this and we need you. After 19 years of success in several major cities throughout Texas, with the decision to test the market on a National level, within 2 weeks came two additional states with one booking a staggering 116 shows within a 4 month period and all locations with bookings throughout the year, same day each month. And even though the average rate for a one hour performance is $125, it's not about the money, it's about what is introduced to every senior who plays that keeps us in demand for tucked away and hidden behind a horse race themed event is an intentionally created fresh approach to socializing without them realizing it. Taking many from withdrawn and isolated to making plans and filling empty days with places to be and people to see. Aging in place the way it's supposed to be.
